Accidents in Car Park

November 30, 2011

When it comes to using a car, one of the most frequent activities that you will have to do is park it. If you are travelling to any common area such as a shopping centre, supermarket or even to work, parking your car is one of the most frequent activities that you will have to complete.

In fact when you visit any public area you will likely have to use a car park and there are thousands of these right around the UK. The main problem with car parks is that usually they contain a lot of drivers in one very small, confined area and if the correct precautions aren’t taken in this situation then there is the potential for an accident to happen.

When entering the car park environment it is easy to reduce the chance of incidents if you take the correct precautions. You need to be aware of other drivers as travelling in the wrong direction is one of the most common causes of car park accidents. Taking the time to work out which way you travel around the car park may seem simple, but can save you many headaches further down the track.

Another main cause of collisions is drivers pulling into or out of parking spaces without correctly checking if there is another car coming, this is particularly prevalent when it comes to reversing out of a parking space. This can frequently be hampered by the placement of shopping bags which can be put on top of the boot in an aim to free up some extra space within the car.

Parked cars are another major cause of accidents and in this case the driver may have completely misjudged their entry to a parking space and as a result hit a car next to them. Tight parking spaces can present a problem for many drivers, and especially new drivers who are not aware of the dimensions of their car.
