PPI Claims – Knowing When You Can Claim
There are few people left in the country who haven’t heard about the widespread mis-selling of PPI over the last couple of decades. Banks have already had to cough up billions of pounds to cover the costs associated with paying back mis-sold PPI, but millions of people have still yet to claim as they aren’t confident about whether they are able to claim back their PPI costs.
PPI can only be claimed back if you can make a strong case that it was mis-sold to you in the first place. In some circumstances it might be really clear that PPI was mis-sold. For example, if you have a long-term health condition that would have made the PPI policy void in the first place you probably wouldn’t have agreed to pay for it – few banks would try arguing with you in this case.
A problem can arise however when you cannot prove the advisor mis-sold PPI to you. For example, you might suggest that the advisor told you taking out a PPI policy was necessary to let you have the loan and they might contest this was not the case. You might feel that you cannot prove the conditions under which you took out the PPI policy and feel that a claim is hopeless.
Things can get even more complicated if you’ve made a claim on your insurance policy. While you might think that you wouldn’t still be able to claim PPI was mis-sold to you, depending on your circumstances it isn’t inevitable that you can’t claim. Just because you made a claim on the insurance doesn’t necessarily mean you were made aware of terms of the PPI that were unfair.
Because everyone’s personal situation is different, PPI claims are not always so simple to sort out. If you’re in any doubt about whether you’re eligible to claim for PPI you should definitely contact an expert claims handler. They will be able to inform you about your likelihood of making a successful claim and if you choose to, they can then follow up the claim on your behalf on a no-win no-fee basis. Now that’s not too hard to understand is it?
